Known for its therapeutic and cosmetic properties. It’s called "the plant of immortality" and it’s considered to be the elixir of longevity, although its name, which probably derives from the Arabic word alloeh, means "bitter and shiny substance".
Although there are more than 300 species of aloe, only two are used for therapeutic purposes, Aloe Vera and more rarely the Aloe Ferox Miller. A treasure of precious properties. Aloe Vera gel contains over 75 known ingredients, the synergy of which leads to the enhancement of their action. Aloe Vera is a source of vitamins, the main of which are B, C, E and beta-carotene (precursor of vitamin A). It contains minerals and trace elements, especially magnesium, manganese, zinc, calcium, iron and selenium, as well as amino acids, which are the building blocks for proteins. Also, it is rich in polysaccharides, enzymes which help in food digestion, sterols, anthraquinones (painkilling substances) and salicylic acid.
Thanks to its ingredients and their synergy, aloe reaches the deepest layers of the skin, cleans it and it is a natural anesthetic. It enhances new cell growth, improves tissue function and heals wounds. It has an antibiotic, antifungal and antiinflammatory effect and it detoxifies the skin.
Most of the times aloe is used as a sedative in various skin irritations such as burns, and scars. It is absorbed faster than water and thus the skin heals quickly.
